to Apply for a College or Technical/Trade School Scholarship!

Louise Peabody Memorial Scholarship
As the first woman partner at a Tysons Corner accounting firm, Louise was committed to her community through her work with Women in Technology where she served as Treasurer and Special Interest Group Chair. Louise then served as STEM for Her Treasurer and, more recently she was devoted to building STEM for Her programs and mentoring young women to develop skills and a love for tech and education.
 
Dede Haskins Memorial Scholarship
With a 25-year career in technology, Dede was recognized as an influential businesswoman in the D.C. area. She was president of Women in Technology, and also a founding member and board chair of STEM for Her where she focused on bridging the gender gap to create a more diverse and productive workforce.
 

STEM for Her intends to award $110,000 in scholarships as follows:

• 4-year institutions: scholarships up to $5,000 per awardee
• 2-year institutions: scholarships up to $2,500 per awardee
• Technical/Trade School programs: scholarships up to $2,500 per awardee

Anyone who has received a previous STEM for Her Scholarship in the past should NOT complete a new application. The Scholarship team will reach out to previous recipients in April 2024 about applying for continued scholarship funding. 

Our application window will be open between February 12 – March 29, 2024.

To apply, you must:

• Have graduated or will graduate from a high school within 60 miles of the Washington D.C. Metro area
• Demonstrate passion for pursuing a STEM-related career
• Complete the entire application (including the one letter of reference) and submit by March 29, 2024 

Demonstrating financial need is not required, but preference may be given to applicants with financial need. 

Scholarship awardees must:

• Provide proof of enrollment in a two-year, four-year or technical/trade school for the 2024-2025 school year
• Provide bursar’s office information before funds can be distributed (funds will be submitted directly to the educational institution, not to the student)
• Needs-based recipients: Financial Award Letter, Cost of Attendance Statement, Financial Student Aid Report (SAR from FAFSA).  If you are applying for a needs-based scholarship, STEM for Her knows of the delays on financial aid packages so please apply and if you are selected, you will need to share your SAR/Cost of Attendance with the acceptance.

We plan to announce winners in April 2024.

Note to previous STEM for Her scholarship awardees:  

• Our scholarship team will contact previous scholarship recipients in April who will have an opportunity to re-apply for scholarship money up to $2,500 per awardee.

Kindly be advised that all disbursements will be exclusively directed to the College/University/School. Should your account reflect a zero balance owed, and you have already received financial aid covering your tuition expenses, STEM for Her regrets to inform you that we will be unable to issue the scholarship directly to the student or their family. STEM for Her can only award up to the eligible student balance.
